The missing posters of the cases featured in the HBO Docuseries, Black and Missing, were reimagined into works of art by five Black portrait artists. The art was then featured in a light projection campaign at the Reginald F. Lewis Black History Museum in Baltimore, MD the week of Christmas 2021. The portraits were paired with a QR code linking to the individual case files and the staggering statistic that "Black Americans go missing 4x longer than white Americans".
This location was chosen not just for it's empowerment of the Black community and being located in the founding city of the non-profit organization Black and Missing the focus of the docuseries, but also the museum's proximity to the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. The Inner Harbor was the last seen location of one of the missing cases, Akia Eggleston. After years of no movements in her case, two months after the light projection campaign, an arrest was made.
